reflections
I know a lot of people read blogs, who are not familiar with the phrase “Blowneyed Blodgers” , but when they do visit a BEB site they hear all about the fun and companionship that occurs during one of their meet ups.
Some see a bunch of people setting around with alcohol drinks in their hands and think thats all those people do, just sit around and get drunk.
Well now and then one of the blowneyes does consume more than they should, but who has not succumbed once and awhile to “Old John Barleycorn” in a moment of weakness, we are all human.
If you get one on one with anyone that was in Kerrville they would let you know that attending a blowneye gathering is like going to a family reunion.
People sit around talking about how things have been for them, just like when a uncle is listening to a nephew talking about his new car or a cousin bragging about their new family addition. Some sit and talk about illnesses that have started to take over their life, while the group nods their head in a way to let that person know they care about them and will be there for them.
Some times we celebrate ones life by getting silly but sincere gifts for their birthday if it happens to be during a reunion.
If you ever do attend one of these “Reunions”, you will see the elderly uncle, aunt or maybe some cousins and nieces that make up the different generations of those who are “Blowneyed Blodgers”.
I think that is one way to describe what those things are, just a “Family Reunion”.

Grandpa it was nice seeing you.
That’s almost exactly how SWMBO described the Helen blogmeets to somebody, when she was asked what they were like. She likened it to a college reunion…which is pretty much correct. People who are brought together by shared experience in at least one part of their lives.
Kerrville must’ve been a blast. Sorry I couldn’t make it.
