upadate on me and the ATM
Did you read this post about my problems with my banks ATM Bad/Good Week?.
Well I went to the bank for the 2nd time on the 27th of Feb and sign papers disputing withdrawals to my account and was told they would call me when a decision was made.
I waited and waited with no call from the bank, I was checking online daily to see if a credit had been made and lo and behold on Sat the 8th my money had came back home.
sure took ‘em long enough to verify I did not receive any money.

Well, I’m glad to say my bank was pretty good and fast about returning the $950 that the forger “loaned” herself from our account. I dont’ know what happened after that, but I think the bank is going to press charges.

Bob, I was going to go in today and ask them how they audit their machines cash. I would think that when they add cash they record that amount somewhere and then deduct withdrawals and verify balance by a physical count of the cash in the machine.
The one thing that bothered me was not so much as the time it took but the person I last talked with said she would call me. I am still waiting for my phone to ring…
Yep, I read that one and was waiting to read what the result was.
I was also wondering what recourse you would have if the bank came back with a “decision” that ended up with you in the hole. And I put quote marks around that word because I really don’t see it as a decision.
And for that reason, I wonder why it took so long. With the speed of computers, nightly batch runs to transfer millions of dollars and reconcile accounts with accuracy down to the penny, I would have thought it a no-brainer for them.
But I suppose that shouldn’t be surprising for a system that takes days to clear a $50 check despite the speed of electrons, and can’t transfer electronically because it’s Sunday.
Happy to hear the result, however.
