My son Sgt. K is getting on a plane around 2100 hrs today and leaving Afghanistan, on his way to Ft Carson Co. My daughter-in-law called me this morning after she had talked to him and got the good news.
He should arrive state side on wed and then make it back to Oklahoma by Aug 23rd if all goes well.
He is with the 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry, 45th Infantry Brigade and was assigned to the SECFOR which provided secutiry to Camp Phoenix, near Kabul. Task Force Phoenix mission is to provide training for the Afghanistan National Army.He was deployed last September, and arrived in Afghanistan in Nov 2003.
I have not seen him for over a year but we did stay in contact through the internet using MS Messenger with our web cams.
I am leaving Texas this friday for Oklahoma to spend a month with him and his family.
