Where in Texas are you?

By confabulator

I found a neat service named Frapper which allows you to create a list of other like minded people and it will display their location on a Google Map.

So I created group map for Texas Bloggers which is open to any Texan who would like their blog to be listed on the map.

So if you want to show every one you location click on the link above and add your blog.
I would suggest that you use the name of your blog in the “Name” box, as this would be more informative for a visitor viewing the map. You can see my info by clicking on my blog name on the right hand side of the map.

Then enter your zip code and in the “Shoutout” box enter the description of your blog. If you want to photo or image you can upload one.

Now the weak part of this service is that all Texas zip codes are not in their data base, they say they are updating it, and make this statement “If your city is small (pop. under 500) or new, it probably isn’t in our database.”.

Note: You cannot edit your info after adding it, they only allow the admin (thats me) to make any corrections, which is only delete either your name or what you entered in the “Shoutout” box. with no editing at all. You can enter text into the “Shoutout” more than once, just enter your name and zip code and then type in what you want. Don’t worry about screwing up, I have made more than you can imagine.

If you want to change or delete any of the info in the “Shoutout” box, send me an e-mail by clicking on the envelope under “Contact Confabulator” on the right side, and I will delete it or the one comment you want to remove and then you can enter what you want.

To add the Frapper link code on your blog, here is the code :

alt=”Check out Texas Blogs!” title=”Check out Texas Blogs!”></a>

What about us folks in that disenfranchised portion of Texas some people call SE NM? Could you add 88220 to the zip codes - we are only 30 miles away and the bloggers in NM won’t let us play either?

Kate, I can’t add any zip codes to their database.
Why don’t you create one for the New Mexico bloggers if they don’t already have one.

Texas Blogger Map I think this is an excellent idea. I’m no big fan of loading up a sidebar with applets and things like that, but this one might just be worth it. Technorati Tags: Texas Blogs Frapper Google Maps Posted by Laurence Simon at 13:04 |
