I talked to my son last tuesday evening and he informed me that his National Guard unit was again being activated for deployment. They will be going to Afghanistan, and will be there until around Oct/Nov 04.

I send him this map of the middle east so he could get an idea of just where he will be located.
Sean enlisted in the army in 1986 and was stationed in Germany, then at Ft Bliss until his discharge in 90, when he enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard.
He is in Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade (Light) (Separate/Enhanced).
In the past 13 years he has been activated 2 times prior to this, the first was for a year with 6 months deployment in Bosnia, and then a six month stint “Guarding/Protecting” the Tulsa Airport after 9/11. His attitude is mixed and some what p.o.’ed , said he is a part-time full-time soldier spending about 20% of the last 13 years on active duty. It makes it hard on all the guys who are trying to raise a family and keep their careers on track.
